2017 Topps Series 2 Baseball Autographs
Even in flagship, hits are not overlooked and 2017 Topps Series 2 Baseball has quite a few. Starting with the main autographs, the 1987 Topps Baseball Autographs (Rookie & All-Star Edition) insert celebrates the '87 design with on-card or sticker autographs. Parallels include Maple Wood (#/25 or less), Ash Wood (#/10 or less), and Birch Wood (1/1 - Hobby/Jumbo). Major League Milestones Autograph, Memorable Moments Autograph and Topps Salute Autograph cards provide more signed inserts along with Red (#'d) and Platinum (1/1) parallels.
Adding a relic, Topps Reverence Autograph Patch cards (#/25) are a new on-card signature option with a premium design. They are only found in Hobby and Jumbo boxes. Other signed relic inserts include Major League Material Autographs, Major League Milestones Autographs (#'d) and Memorable Moments Autograph Relics (#'d). In addition to the base version for each, Red (#/10) and Platinum (1/1) parallels are again in play.
2017 Topps Series 2 Baseball Relics
Closing out the hits for 2017 Topps Series 2 Baseball are the relic-only versions for some of the signed inserts, with Major League Material, Major League Milestone Relic and Memorable Moments Relic cards. These also have Red (#/25) and Platinum (1/1) parallels. On the more rare side are one-of-one In The Name Relics (Hobby/Jumbo) and Cut Signatures.
In addition, 2017 Topps Series 2 Baseball features a pair of commemorative relics with Hobby/Jumbo-only Independence Day Team Logo Patch and MLB All-Star Game Logo Patch cards. Limited parallels come as Gold (#/99), Black (#/50) and Platinum (1/1) versions.
2017 Topps Series 2 Baseball Inserts
Playing into many of the themes previously noted, 2017 Topps Series 2 Baseball is loaded with standard inserts like the popular First Pitch (1:8 packs). While originally planned for Series 2, National Anthem (1:8 packs) was cancelled. Averaging 1:4 packs, 1987 Topps Baseball Rookie & All-Star Edition pays homage to '87 as it celebrates its 30th anniversary. The 1987 set contains All-Stars from the past three decades as well as 2017 rookies.
Looking specifically to the 2016 season, Major League Milestones (1:8 packs) honors noteworthy achievements like Albert Pujols entering the 600 home run club. Tweaking that, Memorable Moments (1:8 packs) takes an all-time approach with iconic events from across the history of baseball. Finally, Topps Salute works with a wide array of image themes, including Curtain Call, Legends, Vintage Uniforms and Spring Training.
